Mahoney ENews - food, water, warmth & Shelter

As you know, food, water, shelter and heat are the fundamental principles of life and Maslows hierarchy of needs. Inspired by our involvement with a month long food drive from today for the Northern Illinois food bank, we started to think about the idea that these literal requirements for human survival are not always as easy to meet as hope sea. To help people meet their food needs, we participate in the training as a drop point to accept donations to help the Food Bank.

More in our area of expertise, we have compiled some information on water & heat needs which we hope helps you stay comfortable in your shelter. Especially with the current snowfall, we hope that everyone remains safe & comfortable home in the coming days. Water is a source of life, but when its leaks in your home, it's more like a source of pain. This week we had a customer who could not find his traps & suffered more damage in her home as necessary. In an emergency, the last thing you want to do is struggle to find your water shutoff valves. We strongly encourage you to you to get to know your House & where are the stop valves. If leakage occurs, this information can save you thousands of water unnecessary.

There are two valves, the main shutoff valve that controls the whole of the House & types of interruptions of supply that control water at specific fixtures & appliances. While each House is built differently, the logic of these valves is generally similar. Interruptions of supply are found near the device or the device. For an example, take a look behind your toilet to the knob on the left side when facing the toilet (most of the toilets have these but certainly not all do).

Here is a picture of what a single style of stopping looks. Your may look like your shutoff valve of the hose of water or more similar to a lever. If you see not a shutoff behind the toilet, check your other devices like sink or your kitchen washing machines. They should have 2 and one for warm; one for the cold. If the leak is important, then sometimes the supply does not stop the water. You need to know where the main shutoff valve should turn off all the water in your home. Main shutoff valve is generally located near the water meter. Here, the valve is usually indoors in a basement. Stopping device will be on the line of water entering the House and always before the first light fixture or device such as a water heater.

As a point of departure, check around your hand with water or in the mechanical area of your home. If you have trouble finding these valves on your own, please one of our plumbers have to label your interruptions the next time that we proceed to a service call. Know how to stop the water of the flood of your home can be a piece of extremely useful information & takes just a few minutes to understand.

Quick Fix Tip o - at least: how water protects you from bad smells

If you feel something bad in your home, it could be caused by water lack into your trap. Without getting too technical, the trap is an ingeniously designed pipe that is used throughout your home in places like your sinks and tubs. Pictured here is an example of a p-trap bathroom. These pipes look odd uses water to keep the foul-smelling smoke and gases from entering your home by trapping water in his dive to the lowest point. This trapped water fills the area further down and it acts as a cap blocking smell f rom coming through your pipes. However, sometimes there is not enough water or the water is evaporated and the odors of sewers are allowed in your home. If this is the case, run just a little water in the drain to reinstall this protective barrier water & odors that leak should disappear.
