Choosing Our House Humidifier

Cold symptoms such as dry skin and allergies can be result in dry air. In dry climates, people can suffer from health symptoms of dry air year round. Beside result in health symptoms, dry air can also cause problems in a house, such as dry furniture, cracked paint, static electricity and peeling wallpaper. House humidifier is used to increase the moisture level of the air which in turn reducing the associated problems of dry air.

Console models of house humidifier are designed for floor use. These models usually enclosed in a cabinet and they are made to control the humidity of multiple rooms. Cool mist is installed to this house humidifier using evaporative technology. With evaporative technology, water sits in a holding tank and is drawn out by a foam wick or cloth.

A fan is installed to blow the water into the air through a filter. The filter sifts out bacteria and other impurities and then evaporates into the air. The filter in this house humidifier needs to be cleaned and changed regularly. Failure to follow the cleaning’s care instructions of this house humidifier can lead to the growth of mold and bacteria.

The other type house humidifier is room humidifier, also called tabletop humidifier, is designed to be used in one room only. This type house humidifier unit is smaller and cheaper, generally cost $40 to $80. Room humidifiers are available in two varieties. They are cool mist and warm mist house humidifier. Cool mist as used in the console models. In warm mist house humidifier, the water is heated before being dispensed into the air.

Warm mist house humidifier does not use filter, the heating mechanism kills the bacteria and does not require more energy to heat the water. This type of humidifier warms the air slightly and allowing users to lower the setting on their heaters. When we are picking out a room humidifier, check the prescribed coverage area, because a very large room may require more than one unit of room humidifier.

Maintenance Tips

Most brand house humidifier will have a removable cover that will allow us to access to the humidifier water panel. Before installing the new replacement pad take some time to clean the inside of the house humidifier with some type of cleaner such as CLR . Check the drain pan and hose for any blockade, we may pour some house hold bleach through it to kill any bacteria growing with in.

When we install the new replacement pad, watch a paint spot indicator on the pad to indicate the top. Then turn the thermostat up, so heat cycles on and increase humidistat set point for humidity. Wait a few minutes until we see a small amount of over flow water running out the house humidifier drain. If this is not happening we have to check the house humidifier water orifice located near the solenoid valve. This restricted water orifice is one the most common reasons why house humidifier is not function.

Some types of house humidifier have fans inside and others called a bypass type, use fan heating system to blow air across the evaporator pad. If we have a bypass type of house humidifier, we have to be sure that the bypass damper is in the open position. This is very important, because when the air conditioning season comes around, the bypass damper is put back in the closed position.

After all these checking things, the house humidifier system still does not maintain the humidity level around 30 percent, we may need to contact the local technician contractor to fix the house humidifier. We hope these tips may help improve the air quality in our  home and save us to call someone for our house humidifier maintenance.
