The secondary carbon filter shows up how much dirt is being taken out of the air and need only cleaning the carbon filter one a month.  The sound level on low position is about the same as a computer running. On high position, the sounds like a small hair dryer. If we are accustomed sleeping with a computer running,  this sounds will not be a problem..
